About the Board

The Big Day Off Board is comprised of seven people from various background and professions. Each board member brings a unique set of skills and perspective to the Big Day Off.

Jon Retford

General Manager – Wilson Transformer Co.

Jon has been General Manager of Wilson Transformer Co since 1999. The Company employs 280 full time staff and has enjoyed significant success in recent regional business excellence awards. Awards include The Victorian Government award for best business in Regional Victoria, Excellence in Manufacturing, Most Outstanding Business and Employer of Choice.

Prior to his time at Wilson, Jon was involved in a contract electronic manufacturing business in Penang, Malaysia. Among other products this business produced 3,500 circuit assemblies per day for Sony.

Jon started his working career at Ford as part of their Graduate Program. He was involved in a number of significant projects including setting a world record for fuel economy at 5107 miles per gallon, and as Manager of the Ford Solar Powered Vehicle team that competed successfully in the first World Solar Challenge in 1987.

Jon is past President of the Hume Lean Network and is the Industry representative to the Victorian Government’s advisory committee on Workforce development. He also served as Chair of the Board for the North East Local Learning and Employment Network for many years.


Kylie King

Journalist and Communications Strategist

Kylie King is a television journalist, presenter, producer and communications strategist.

Starting her career in regional radio and television in Gippsland and Albury Wodonga, Kylie furthered her career in Melbourne as part of the Ten News team as a sports reporter before progressing into live sport television production.

From 2003 – 2010 she was part of Network Ten’s reporting and commentary team on major sporting events such as Australian Formula One Grand Prix, Bathurst 1000, World Rally Championships, Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix and World Sailing Championships and was a feature reporter for motorsport program RPM.

Kylie retains an involvement in national television sports production as a motorsport reporter/presenter with V8 Supercars Television – part of the Outside Broadcast team producing content currently aired on Network Ten and Fox Sports.

Kylie has also been a judge for the Walkley Awards for excellence in journalism and was Communications & Publications Manager at the AFL Players’ Association.

While remaining active in television journalism, Kylie also has a Graduate Certificate in Public Relations and works with corporate clients in assisting with their media, marketing and communications strategies.


Ben Hollands

Managing Director – Dutch Media

As founder of Dutch Media, Ben has an extensive background in the advertising industry. After completing studies in Marketing and Communications, Ben gained extensive media knowledge in roles within the television and radio industries including key roles with leading networks Southern Cross Broadcasting, Channel 9 and Austereo.

In 2006 Ben moved to leading Adelaide advertising agency THEM Advertising, managing an extremely diverse range of national, state-based and local clients using a number of different marketing platforms, before establishing Dutch Media in 2010.

Adrian Kay

Practice Principal – Gardens Medical Group

Adrian moved from Berrigan to complete his studies in Albury. He studied Medicine in Sydney at the University of NSW and spent his post graduate years at The Alfred, Albury Base and Nepean Hospitals.

He returned to Albury in 1982 to take up full time General Practice with special interest in Obstetrics having delivered over 1000 babies.

He was an instigator in the development of The Gardens Medical Centre and is a practice principal of the Gardens Medical Group.
Previously he has been the Chairman of the Border Medical Association, Chairman of the Visiting Medical Officers at the Mercy Hospital and was an active member of Apex.


Kevin Mack

Policeman, Councillor Albury City and 2012 – Premiers Community Service Award recipient

Kevin is married to Jill and has four children.

Kevin has 36 years’ experience in the Victoria Police Force, past eight (8) years as a youth practitioner.

Kevin works with all young people across various levels. He is a foundation member of Youth Albury-Wodonga, a wilderness therapy leadership model for young people.

Awards:
2007- Awarded the Victoria Police Youth Officer of the Year.
2008- Recipient of a Paul Harris for his work with young people and the community.
2011- Albury’s Citizen of the year and a recipient of a Premier’s Community Service Award.

Kevin is a board member of Youth Albury Wodonga, the Border Trust Foundation, North East Local Learning and Employment Network and Junction Support Services.


Cameron Diffey

Partner – JohnsonsMME

Cameron Diffey is a chartered accountant and partner of JohnsonsMME. He has extensive experience in business advisory, taxation, superannuation and financial management. He serves on the Board of the James McQuillan Future Fund and is involved in advising and assisting charities and clients with their philanthropic interests.


Stephan Hogan


Mike Eden

Mike is a former NRL Player 1981-1989, who now is a successful a Lawyer with over 25 years’ experience mainly in Commercial and Property Law. He is married with three adult sons and an 11 year old son who is on the Autism Spectrum. Mike moved to Albury in 2010 and has been involved in a number of Community Organisations
